Legal
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of Roster. Roster is a personal project built by Mike Potter, an individual developer in Ontario, Canada. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Mike, acting in his personal capacity ("Roster," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
You accept these Terms by creating a Roster account, installing the Roster mobile app, or otherwise using the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to both you personally and that organization.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by law in your country) to use Roster. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
Roster is a platform for building, running, and managing personal AI agents. The Service includes the Roster mobile applications, the rosterai.app website, the agent builder, the catalog of starter agents, the per-agent permission system, the activity feed, and any related software and APIs we make available.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We'll try to give reasonable notice for material changes that affect how the Service works for you.
Roster does not resell Anthropic's models. To run agents, you need an active Anthropic subscription (such as Claude Pro or Claude Max). When your agents make model calls, those calls are billed to your Anthropic account under Anthropic's terms — not ours. You're responsible for:
If your Anthropic account is suspended, rate-limited, or otherwise unable to serve requests, your agents won't be able to run until that's resolved.
You retain all rights in the content you put into Roster — including the agents you build, their instructions, their memory, any files you provide, and the outputs they produce on your behalf ("Your Content").
You grant Roster a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and process Your Content solely to operate the Service for you and to provide the features you've enabled (for example, syncing memory across your devices, or running an agent action you triggered). This license ends when you delete Your Content or close your account, except to the extent we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate backup retention periods.
You are responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have all rights needed to provide it to Roster and that it does not violate the law or anyone's rights.
You may connect Roster to third-party services and grant your agents permission to take outbound actions (such as sending an email, scheduling a meeting, or writing to a connected service). Roster's permission system is designed to prompt you for confirmation before any outbound action; however, you are ultimately responsible for the permissions you grant and the actions your agents take. Review your permission settings carefully.
You agree not to use Roster (or build, share, or run agents) to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, and may remove or disable agents that we reasonably believe are being used in violation of these Terms.
The Roster app is currently free to install. You'll need a Claude Pro or Max subscription with Anthropic to actually run agents. We may introduce paid Roster features in the future; if we do, we'll describe pricing and billing clearly before you sign up. We will not start charging you for features that are free today without first giving you notice and the chance to opt out.
Roster, the Roster name and logo, the starter agents we publish, the agent builder, and the underlying software are owned by Mike Potter and protected by intellectual- property laws. Except for the license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms, we don't grant you any rights in that intellectual property.
You may use Roster's name and screenshots to refer to the Service in ordinary editorial or commercial contexts, but you may not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership without our written permission.
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, we may use them without obligation to you. You're not required to send us feedback, but if you do, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use it.
The Service depends on third-party services, including Anthropic's Claude API, Apple's App Store, and any integrations you connect. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. Roster is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behavior of third-party services.
You can stop using Roster and delete your account at any time from the app's settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms or if doing so is necessary to comply with the law or protect the Service or our users. We'll give you notice when we reasonably can. Sections that, by their nature, should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
AI agents are probabilistic. Their outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or offensive, and may not reflect Roster's views. Do not rely on agent outputs for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and review what an agent produces before relying on it. You are responsible for verifying agent outputs before acting on them — especially for outbound actions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mike Potter (acting as the operator of Roster) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.
Total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you have paid Roster in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limits above apply to the fullest extent allowed by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold Mike Potter (acting as the operator of Roster) harmless from any claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (c) outbound actions your agents take under permissions you granted them.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts located in Toronto, Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose laws require a different forum or governing law for consumer disputes, those laws will apply to the extent required.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll give you notice — for example, by posting an announcement in the app or by sending an email — before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you don't agree, please stop using the Service before the effective date.
Questions about these Terms? Email hello@rosterai.app and Mike will get back to you.
